Weber County 4-H Teen Council By Laws

What is Weber County 4-H Teen Council?

Teen Council is the county 4-H leadership organization for teen 4-H club members. Its purpose is to help teen 4-H’ers develop leadership skills, while helping to build a strong, county 4-H program that benefits all members and volunteers. Teen Council members meet monthly to plan and implement 4-H educational programs, as well as community service and social activities.

Membership:

Any Weber County 4-H club member, grades 8-12, is eligible to join 4-H Teen Council.  New members can join at any time during the year, but are encouraged to join in October, when the new 4-H year begins.

Meetings:

Meetings are held monthly on the 1st Monday, 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Weber County 4-H Office.  Meeting weeks are adjusted for holidays.

 

Officers: 

Elections are held in October to select a president, vice president, secretary and reporter.  Youth desiring to serve as an officer submit a nomination form by September 15.  Candidates will give campaign speeches at the October meeting.  Officer roles include:

 

Roles: 

Teen council members will be involved in the following roles:   

·          Community Service:   Plans and leads community service projects, seeking to involve all club members.

 

·          Activities:  Plans and leads Teen Council social activities and countywide special events including Achievement Night and National 4-H Week.

 

·          Hospitality:   Leads opening welcome and get acquainted activities at the beginning of each Teen Council meeting; recruits new members and makes new members feel welcome to Teen Council.
