Dates: Youth can schedule an appointment with Wendy Rees (399-8202) to compete on one of the following contest dates listed below. Appointments will be scheduled in 15 minute intervals. Once an appointment has been scheduled, youth must either participate or cancel at least one week in advance. If they are a no show for the contest, they will not be allowed to reschedule to compete in that specific contest:
Time: By appointment; appointments scheduled every 15 minutes. Arrive promptly and be ready at your assigned appointment time.
- Wednesday, April 18 (2:30-7 p.m.)
- Wednesday, May 16 (2:30-7 p.m.)
- Wednesday, May 30 (2:30-7 p.m.)
- Wednesday, June 13 (2:30-7 p.m.)
- Wednesday, June 20 (2:30-7 p.m.)
Location: Extension Office
Registration & Cancellation Deadline: One week prior to contest day.
Team or Individual: Individual or teams of two only.
Description: Without any props, youth prepare and deliver a speech on any horse-related topic such as health issues, showing, horse industry concerns, ethics, etc.
- Juniors and Intermediates: 3 - 5 minutes
- Seniors: 7 - 10 minutes
- Blue (excellent): 90-100 ($3 clover bucks)
- Red (good ): 75-89 ($2 clover bucks)
- White (fair): 74 and below
Youth may call the 4-H office the following day to find out their placing; awards will be mailed.
